It’s hard to not like Nathaniel Hackett when you talk with him.

You can see why teams bring him in and why he develops great relationships with players.

The most high-profile player who has raved about Hackett is his QB, Aaron Rodgers.

Hackett was fantastic with Brian Costello and me on a new episode of the “Gang’s All Here” podcast.

Hackett dives into how Rodgers ended up with the Jets, the bond they have, why he took the OC job here, what he brings to Gang Green and much more.

You can listen or watch the interview below.

Nathaniel Hackett Interview with Jake Brown & Brian Costello:
Jets offensive coordinator

  • TAKING JETS JOB: Came down to his family. Had all four kids in upstate NY. The family found things they liked at schools and it made the decision easier.
  • DAD PAUL’S INFLUENCE: Talked with his dad Paul Hackett about his success with the Jets as the OC from 2001-04, making the playoffs three times. Come a long way from the Hofstra days to a nice facility. Used to come to Hofstra and learn from his dad. His dad reminds him of the wins.
  • OC CRITICISM: Dealing with criticism as an offensive play-caller, he loves it. Put more pressure on themselves than anybody. You learn through the mistakes. Dad took a lot of heat in NY, despite making the playoff three out of four years.
  • AARON RODGERS: What makes him so special outside of what we see in games? His competitive drive and how he sees so much out there. It starts in practice. Was a facilitator in Rodgers coming to the Jets when they had the meeting in California.
  • NEW YORK PACKERS: Important having guys you have comfortability with, knowing how you operate. They know how routes will be run and will be able to send vibrations to the team that gets everyone on the same page. Loves the talent they have on offense.
  • LEARNING FROM BEING A HEAD COACH: Last season was a wild tornado. Had a chance in a lot of close games. They need to be in games or winning games. Keep trucking and keep your head down and make sure you are communicating with the players.
