Packers QB Jordan Love wishes rival Bears fans a ‘Happy Father’s Day’

The Packers-Bears rivalry is getting chippy this offseason — and it’s only June.

Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love, who is headed into his first season as a full-time starter after Aaron Rodgers was traded to the Jets, posted a cheeky message to rival Chicago fans on Sunday in relation to the holiday over the weekend.

“Happy Father’s Day to all the Bears fans out there, Go Pack Go,” Love said in a video posted to social media on Sunday.

Love was at a quarterback camp in France when he recorded the message, and the Twitter user who posted it revealed that it wasn’t so much a troll as a genuine message to French Bears fans — and also that Bears quarterback Justin Fields was also supposed to be at the camp, but couldn’t make it.

Still, the internet was able to have some fun with what appeared to be the young quarterback poking fun at the one-sided nature of the rivalry in recent years.

The Bears have not beaten the division-rival Packers since 2018, when Mitchell Trubisky was the starting quarterback in Chicago, and have not beaten them in Green Bay since 2015, when it was Jay Cutler under center.

However, Love has not thrown a single pass against the Bears in any of his three seasons in the NFL, and many Bears fans were quick to point that out on Twitter.

Others wondered if Love should have worded his statement differently.

“He just directly called the Bears his father,” one Twitter user wrote.

It’s not the first time the Bears-Packers rivalry has made headlines this offseason.

Earlier this month, Chicago defensive lineman Justin Jones ripped into Packers fans during a press conference, calling them “really s–tty.”

“Half of them don’t even know football. It’s so weird to me,” Jones said. “I want to go out there, and I want to beat the hell out of them on their field. I want to hear the boos then. That’s what I look forward to.”
