2023 NBA Draft betting market swings wildly after Scoot Henderson tweet

We’re looking at a potential earth-shattering shake-up at the top of the 2023 NBA Draft.

After Brandon Miller jumped into favorite status to go No. 2 to the Hornets on Wednesday, moving as short as -625 on PointsBet (before coming back down), the Athletic’s Shams Charania threw a monkey wrench into those odds, tweeting Thursday that Scoot Henderson is gaining major momentum to be selected instead.

Sportsbooks immediately pulled odds as the new information transformed the view of this betting market.

When they were put back up, the market looked wildly different, with Henderson an even bigger favorite than Miller ever was.

  • Before Charania’s tweet: Miller: -240 | Henderson: +175
  • After Charania’s tweet: Miller: +550 | Henderson: -700

On Tuesday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said that Miller was the clear choice from Charlotte to be the second pick.

“Alabama’s Brandon Miller further solidified his standing as Charlotte’s choice at No. 2,” Wojnarowski said on ESPN. “Brandon Miller continues to be the focus for the Hornets at No. 2.”

Prior to that report, Henderson was trading around -270 to go No. 2 overall on FanDuel, and Miller was on the outside looking in around +185.

After the massive stretch out to Henderson as the overwhelming favorite, the lines moved back to center quite a bit.

At the time of publication, Henderson was -230 to go No. 2, while Miller was a +145 underdog.

We will see what happens on Thursday night as the two continue their pursuit of landing in Charlotte.
