Brikitta Kool-Daniels — NBA Draft mom who went viral for white dress — is ‘reliving it all’

NBA moms were feeling nostalgic during the 2023 NBA Draft on Thursday night.

Brikitta Kool-Daniels, who went viral during last year’s draft when her son, Dyson Daniels, was selected eighth overall by the Pelicans, gushed that she was “reliving it all” in a post on Instagram.

Brikitta shared a collage of photos from the 2022 NBA Draft at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, adding, “12 [months] later” in her caption before asking her followers: “Who will you be supporting?”

Last year, NBA Twitter was enamored with Brikitta after she appeared on stage in a stunning white dress with Daniels, a product of the G League Ignite.

Scoot Henderson also spent two years in the G League Ignite prior to being selected third overall by Portland on Thursday.

In addition to Brikitta, Daniels’ father Ricky was also at the 2022 draft amidst the Twitter buzz, which she appeared to address a few days later on Instagram.

“Mayhem over a little white dress,” Brikitta captioned a post, which included photos of her ensemble at the draft and other moments from her son’s big night.

At the time, Brikitta, who works in the fitness industry, documented the family’s journey throughout the draft, as well as their first visit to New Orleans.

In December, she showed off her 2022-23 family member season pass, while taking in a Pelicans game at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

NBA moms play a vital role in the draft.

Every year, it’s inevitable — at least one NBA mom goes viral due to an emotional speech, or a stunning red carpet look.

And, the mothers of star athletes deserve to be put on a pedestal too.

This year, former Arkansas guard Anthony Black’s mom, Jennifer Black, caught the attention of NBA Twitter, along with Kansas product Gradey Dick’s mom, Carmen (Jaspers) Dick.

Many recognized Dick’s mom from when she played professional basketball after an accomplished college career at Iowa State in the mid-1980s.
