‘The Show’ Episode 82: Brad Ausmus on becoming Yankees bench coach

Since the Yankees traded for Juan Soto, they have been quiet.

So has most of the baseball world.

Brad Ausmus is joining the Yankees’ staff.

Now that we have entered 2024, there are still plenty of free agents still out there.

What will the Yankees do next?

Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman discuss that — and everything free agency — on a new episode of “The Show” podcast.

New Yankees bench coach Brad Ausmus joins the guys to talk about why he chose to come to the Yanks, the goal for the 2024 season and much more.

‘The Show’ podcast with Joel Sherman & Jon Heyman:

  • YANKEES LACK OF ACTIVITY: There are tons of free agents still on the board. The Yankees were confident they were going to sign Yoshinobu Yamamoto, but it didn’t happen. They have to pivot and get some pitching. It’s not a deep rotation. They need two starting pitchers. Where should they go?
  • METS QUIET: What should the Mets do? They need starting pitching and bullpen help. The bullpen market has hardly been touched. Hector Neris? Matt Moore? Jordan Hicks?

Brad Ausmus Interview:
Yankees bench coach

  • YANKEES BENCH COACH: Ausmus tried to get into the front office somewhere and had an interview, but nothing happened. Aaron Boone reached out to him to be the bench coach.
  • SOTO: He gives more opportunities for Aaron Judge with how much he gets on base. They need everyone else to contribute up and down the lineup.
  • WIN: Ausmus wants to win a World Series with the Yankees.
