Why Christian Scott’s expanding repertoire could have him pitching for the Mets sooner than later

Mets pitching coach Jeremy Hefner receives condensed video that allows him to watch the performances of the organization’s Triple-A and Double-A starting pitchers in 10-15 minutes.

Christian Scott would be required viewing for Hefner even if he wasn’t already required viewing.

The right-hander impressed team officials and scouts in spring training and has only elevated his game in four starts for Triple-A Syracuse. Scott has 34 strikeouts in 24 ⅔ innings, most recently concluding an outing by retiring 18 straight batters.

“He’s doing exactly what we have asked him to do,” Hefner told Post Sports+ this week. “He’s pitching to his strengths and he’s given up a few home run balls, but he makes the adjustment of what hitters are trying to do to him and he’s not walking guys. He’s getting his punch outs and he’s keeping the team in the game to win.”
